API116- API 577: Supplemental Inspection Certification Program: Advanced Knowledge of Welding and Metallurgy

Introduction

This program will be highly beneficial for welding Engineers, Mechanical Supervisors, Foreman, Shop Inspectors, QA/ QC personnel, and inspection agencies including the Third Party Inspection agencies. Welders, welding supervisors, inspectors, NDE examiners, technologists, or engineers, who are seeking an understanding of welding technology and welding inspection will find the program useful. The program helps the participants to understand various welding processes, their relative merits, and demerits, step by step methodology in welding inspection, Do’s and Don’ts of NDT examinations, and how to resolve non-conformances. It will help the API 577 Certification exam candidates to pass the exam successfully with a high score.

Objectives

    • To know various Welding processes and their merits and limitations
    • To get the overview of Welding procedures and review if WPS/PQR
    • To understand the method of Filler Metal Selection
    • To know the common Non-destructive examinations and their application
    • To understand the basic Welding metallurgy
    • To study the Effects of Preheating Post-weld Heat
    • Treatment, Hardening of HAZ
    • To understand the Weldability of Steels
    • To understand the Carbon Equivalent Formula and its practical use
    • To know the welding issues specific to Refinery and petrochemical plants

Training Methodology

This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
